And here is why. If Claude and I showed up to a job interview and were compared by our skills, I would hopelessly lose out.
Some things Claude does much better than me are:
- run a multidimensional web search and find signals that my clients have problems with going to market. It reads faster, it finds patterns in masses of information long after my attention span has been smoked out.
- build a small application on my computer that helps me run outreach campaigns on autopilot. It understands APIs, Python, and proxy servers way beyond my coding skills.
- And ChatGPT creates beautiful editorial drawings from my ideas that surpass my grade 10 drawing skills by far.
The list goes on and on. You get the idea.
What it struggles with is:
- Which GTM signals are actually the ones with the most leverage for my clients.
- Which ideas and offerings have relevance for my ICP.
- And what a certain thesis actually means for my client. Emotionally, functionally, and structurally. What is the impact?
- Being original and creating context that is not obvious.
- Sound business judgement.
For example:
I recently had Claude analyze a business. It found that the business had changed its category positioning to a new field. An interesting pivot to investigate for me.
The new category was more crowded. So Claude concluded to position back to the old category - to be a category leader. Not an entirely bad idea.
But. What it did not realize was that the CEO was a defining figure and thought leader in shaping the new category. That changes the picture entirely.
That’s why you don’t want to replace me with Claude - even if I cost you more than Claude can burn in tokens. But pair me with Claude and we can do the work of what 6 people could do in half a year in 4 weeks. What’s your relationship with AI empowerment?
